Aashish Mehrotra, who plays Anupama‘s son in the show will miss the fun he has every year on Lohri being with his family in Delhi. Getting nostalgic about the festival and his memories of being with family, he says that due to his shooting and work commitments, he is unable to travel back home. “I have always been very excited about Lohri since childhood,” beams Aashish, adding, “We bring the dhol, light the bonfire, eat sweets in the winters and throw all the chikki in the bonfire and dance around it. I will miss out on all that fun this year. But also, I would miss it and my family, I am also glad that I am here in Mumbai because I am shooting for ‘Anupama’ so this time I will happily miss Lohri. I feel blessed to be part of it.”
Aashish says among the things he will miss dearly is the shopping for his sister who is married and going to her house with gifts. “It’s a very mixed feeling about this Lohri because it’s been long, over a year, since I met my family. I was talking to mom, and she mentioned how they were going to buy stuff for my sister who is married and as is ritual the married girl’s family sends her gifts on Lohri,” he says.
While this Lohri is special for him because of ‘Anupama’ it is also significant because “We are going through the pandemic,” he says, adding, “I hope and pray that in this Lohri, the people who were impacted by the pandemic are able to emerge stronger from it and recover in 2021.”
