Ace director Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan is being shot in Hyderabad and huge sets depicting the Chola architectural style have been erected to film the magnum opus. The movie stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi and Karthi in lead roles. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen playing dual roles –Princess Nandini Devi, the stunning and scheming wife of Periya Pazhuvetayar and the other of Mandakini Devi. It’s said that in one character she will be paired opposite Sarathkumar.
While it is rumoured that Bigg Boss Tamil fame Harathi will be part of the star cast, one more actor has joined the stellar cast and it’s none other than actor Rahman. One of the sought after heroes of 90s, Rahman has given several hits in Malayalam and Tamil. Of late, the actor has been playing characters with negative shades and supporting roles. Rahman is currently acting in Gopichand’s Seetimaar helmed by Sampath Nandi and he will start shooting for Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan, next.

The film resumed shooting after the lockdown on January 6 at Hyderabad and five massive sets have been built to can the scenes for the movie, which is based on Kalki’s novel by the same name. Thotta Tharani is the art director for the movie and AR Rahman is scoring the music. The Hyderabad schedule is expected to go on for two months and the team plans to finish major portions of the film in the schedule.
