Also wishing the director on the special day were Tollywood celebs like Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu. Allu Arjun, who has collaborated with Sukumar for the successful Arya and Arya 2 and will soon be seen in his rustic drama Pushpa, as Pushpa Raj, a coolie-turned-sandalwood-smuggler wished the director on his birthday. Sharing a picture of them together, he wrote, “Many many happy returns of the day to my director and friend Sukumar garu . We started our journey in film together and I admire his journey. I wish him many more milestones to come. Happy Birthday once again darling. #sukumar.” (sic) Shooting for Pushpa is currently in progress with Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead.

Mahesh Babu, who acted in Sukumar’s cult film 1: Nenokkadine also shared a picture of them both on social media. While the film received mixed response upon release, through the years the film has received a fan base of its own due to the experimental content. Wishing him on his birthday, Mahesh wrote, “Happy birthday to one of the most talented filmmakers I’ve worked with @aryasukku! Wishing you happiness and good health always.” (sic) While Mahesh Babu will soon be seen in Parasuram Petla’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata, shooting for which is yet to begin, fans of the MB-Sukumar combo left comments under the post, hoping the duo team up again someday.
