After her 2018 Prithviraj-starrer Ranam, Isha is back again in M-Town through another film that has the superstar in the lead. In the upcoming Ratheesh Ambat directorial titled Kuruthi that is scripted by Murali Gopy, Isha plays a major role.
“I was waiting for a good project in Malayalam to come back here. Vijay Babu called me for this film and he has been backing some fantastic films. I was also drawn to the fact that I would get to work with Prithviraj again,” says Isha, adding in Malayalam, “Adutha maasam njan Kuruthi shoot start cheyyum (I will start shooting Kuruthi next month).” Ask her what’s up with switching to the language and she says with a chuckle, “One of the main things I was doing during the lockdown was learning Malayalam online.”
Ask her if the long gaps between her Malayalam projects are because of her Hindi projects that keep her busy and she says, “No. I think I don’t get a lot of work here because of the language problem. There is an apprehension in giving me work, and it is understandable. I need to learn the language well before I can get some good roles.”
Interestingly, for around six months she wasn’t on social media last year. “I spent about two months at my friend’s farm in Maharashtra with my mom. My phone also was switched off. Actually, the lockdown was announced soon after we reached the farm and so, we decided to make the most of it. I did a lot of things I have never done before, like sleeping at 9pm and getting up at 3am, which was on my bucket list for a long time. I also learned a bit of farming, helped with some work, did sunbathing for the first time and more. I also finally got over my fear of dogs, by getting friendly with them while I was there.”
She was also in Kerala for a while, for ayurveda treatment in Irinjalakuda. “I spent my time relaxing, by the backwaters. Come to think of it, I did quite a bit of travelling in the last few months,” she signs off.
