The makers of the movie, which also has Nikhila Vimal playing a pivotal character, had recently unveiled Mammootty’s look in the film along with the announcement that The Priest will hit theatres soon. The film will be the megastar’s first release after the lockdown.
The Priest will also mark the first time that Mammootty and Manju Warrier have shared screen space together. On the experience of directing the two stars, Jofin had earlier told us, “It was special to direct them, especially because they are acting together for the first time and that too in my debut film. Many Mollywood filmmakers and fans have wished to bring them together onscreen and I consider it a blessing that it happened with this film. However, the idea was never that. The producers and I thought it would be great if Manju ma’am played this particular character and that’s how we approached her. The rest was a result of both of them liking their roles and coming onboard.”
Incidentally, the filmmaker said their first scene together caused quite a stir on the sets. “Everyone on the set was excited, except for the duo because they were thoroughly professional and didn’t let the emotions of the moment, if they had any, show on their faces. They have acted in so many films with so many big stars and didn’t tell any of us how special it was for them,” said the filmmaker.
