iSmart Shankar, Ram Pothineni is back on the big screen this Sankranthi with his upcoming film
RED. What’s more, his fans will be in for a treat as the actor will be seen in a dual role for the first time in his career.
Ram plays look-alikes Aditya and Siddharth in
RED, with one of them being the antagonist in the film. The actor says the film gives scope for him to showcase his acting prowess. “Usually in films like these, there’s no rationality behind why the characters are such polar opposites, it’s just used as a cinematic trope. In
RED, however, their life experiences decide how they behave, carry themselves and even talk, making it seem very natural. Kishore and I put a lot of effort to make the characters believable,” says Ram.
RED, which is a remake of the Tamil film
Thadam, has a lot of thrilling elements to it, Ram is quick to clarify that the film is not ‘just a thriller’. “RED is a complete package. It has two great love stories and is packed with emotions. It’s essentially a film the whole family can watch together this Sankranthi,” says the actor.
Ram is confident the film will make its mark not just in the Telugu states, but across the country. “My last film made me believe that good content is universal because no matter where I went to in India, people would recognise me as ‘iSmart’. Which is why, RED is hitting screens not just in Telugu but also Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Marathi and Hindi, apart from a direct-OTT release planned for Tamil later,” he says signing off.
Produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore and presented by Krishna Chaitanya Pothineni under Sri Sravanthi Movies, RED is releasing tomorrow.
