In Lokesh Kangaraj
’s directorial, Master that released yesterday, Vijay
plays Professor JD, a drunkard. But no one knows the reason for his addiction and whoever tries to find it out he would tell a cinema story in such a way that till the end they would believe it’s a true story. However, in one scene he narrates the story and that too in front of Professor Charulatha, played by Malavika Mohanan
, which is the true incident. But the incident is so filmy that initially, Chaaru doesn’t believe it and says that it is the story of the movie Premam
, starring Nivin Pauly and Sai Pallavi, directed by Alphonse Puthren. In the story Vijay narrates that he had a strong love affair with a college teacher, but she met with an accident and lost her memory and later she married her relative. This is similar to the story of Premam.
But interestingly, Master’s director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Premam’s director Alphonse Puthren are connected through an earlier venture. Both the directors were part of the Tamil anthology, Avial. While Alphonse helmed Eli, Lokesh directed Kaalam in the anthology. Eli was later made into a full-fledged movie Neram and Alphonse got a big break with Premam. But Lokesh has to wait till Kaithi starring Karthi to get noticed by the Kollywood. And since, then there is no looking back. After Master, he is all set to direct Kamal Haasan.
