If all goes well, Ajay Devgn and Tabu will once again get together- this time for the second part of ‘Drishyam’ to be made in Hindi. ‘Drishyam 2’ in Malayalam, starring Mohanlal, written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor, released online on February 19, 2021. The story in the Joseph directed film takes place six years after the events of ‘Drishyam’. Drishyam 2 in Hindi, which will be along the lines of the Malayalam one with a few modifications, will be produced by Kumar Mangat.
A source says, “Ajay and Tabu have agreed in principle to play the leads. The balance cast however is yet to be decided. The paperwork of buying the rights from the original’s producer is almost done.”
The modalities, which include the shooting locales and budget, are fast being worked out. What essentially remains to be decided is whether Viacom 18 who was a co-producer in the first part with Kumar Mangat remains in the picture.
The first part in Hindi, which hit theatres in 2015, was received very well. ‘Drishyam 2’ with Ajay and Tabu will go on floors sometime in the third quarter of 2021. Devgn & Co are eyeing a 2022 release.
