Actress Kajal Pisal, who is currently seen in Durga- Mata Ki Chhaya, has been a part of the TV industry for a while now. The actress talks about the current audition scenario in the industry versus when she entered the industry back in 2007. Explaining the difference between then and now, she says, “A lot has changed since the time I entered the industry. Earlier, I clearly remember that when I used to give auditions, they used to see my performance, acting skills and if I fit the role well. Now these norms have changed and I see that casting directors these days see an actor’s social media following. More the followers, better the chances. Sometimes I have noticed that even though the actor doesn’t fit the role, he/ she is still cast due to his/ her huge following on social media.”
So, what does she think about that? “I feel that when one focuses a lot on social media, they forget their actual work, which is acting. I have also seen that at times, it gets very challenging to keep up with the expectations associated with social media. If one person puts up a bad picture, they get brutally trolled. Social media creates a very fake image,” she adds.
The actress has also been a part of shows such as Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, Bade Achhe Lagte Hai, Udaan and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya.
