During a recent interview with a popular news portal, Shruti Haasan talked about the social message in both her upcoming films and how a superstar presence in it can cater the topic to a large section of audience. While Laabam talks about the issues faced by farmers like not getting a fair price for their crops, Vakeel Saab addresses misogyny, consent and women issues in the country.
Opening up on the Telugu remake of Bollywood film ‘Pink’, the 35-year-old actress said “Making films like Vakeel Saab is important. And then, if you have someone like Pawan Kalyan who can influence the masses, it’s great. Anybody in a position of influence using it to provoke thought is powerful.” Shruti is reprising the role of Vidya Balan from the Tamil remake of Pink titled ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’.
Directed by Venu Sriram, Vakeel Saab is scheduled for a worldwide release on April 9th. While Nivetha Thomas has stepped into the shoes of Taapsee Pannu, Anjali and Ananya Nagalla have reprised the roles of Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang from the original Hindi film.
