Fitness for face is the latest skincare trend

As the concept of slow beauty has been picking up pace, people are moving towards finding natural practices for good skincare. Right from facial yoga to facial massages with Gua sha – having a fitness regime for face sculpting and toning is the in thing right now. Since the lockdown made it difficult for everyone to have access to artificial techniques, facial massages by self, facial exercises, and reiki for glowing skin became more popular.

Face yoga practitioner and facialist expert Vibhuti Arora from House of Beauty explains, “For the longest time people couldn’t reach out to dermatologists for their routine face lifting, sculpting practices during the lockdown. That is when everyone re-discovered these natural practices that could be easily done at home. Of all that is trending, facial yoga and massages with Gua sha are most popular.”

Yoga for the face

As per experts, most people are opting to participate in face yoga workshops to tone their features. The problem areas that top the list begin with getting rid of double chin, followed by working on naso-labial folds (smile and expression lines) and dealing with dark circles. These yoga exercises for the face, strengthen and tone the facial muscles and bring glow to the face too. Some popular exercises are forehead smoother, double V for eyes area, natural neck lift, and cheek sculptor.

Facial massages using tools

With easy access to face sculpting and glow enhancing tools like gua sha and jade roller, many have limited the visits to salons and clinics. Many tutorials are also available online to help one practice facial massages at home. “Many people have invested in getting jade rollers and gua sha at home along with essential oils. They ask for tutorials that can become a part of their nightly routine just like CTM,” remarks Arora. These tools help increase the blood circulation and are good for lymphatic drainage.

Practising Reiki for that enviable glow

Practices like Reiki where energy is transformed from one person (channel) to the other (receiver), has been popular for healing aches and other common maladies. Nowadays, it is also being practiced to give a radiant glow to the skin. Models like Jan De Villeneuve and Amber Anderson have been following it diligently. It works by easing off the stress and worry, thereby reducing worry lines and frowns.
