The Tamil remake of Sriram Raghavan’s Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Andhadhun went on floors today with a poojai launch in the city. And the latest update on the film, starring Prashanth in the lead, is that it is being directed by his father, actor-director-producer Thiagarajan. While Mohan Raja was initially roped in to direct the official remake, titled Andhagan, he was later replaced by JJ Fredrick.
Ask Thiagarajan the reason behind the decision, and the director, who last helmed Mambattiyan in 2011, says, “There’s no reason. Fredrick was supposed to direct it. Now, I’m directing.”
He has plans to finish the film in 35 days. “We are shooting in Chennai now, and will travel to Pondycherry and London as well. We have not planned any schedule breaks as of now. We will shoot till we have artistes’ availability. Most of the portions are with Prashanth. Simran has also joined the shoot, so has Poovaiyar. We are yet to lock in the actress to play Radhika Apte’s role in the film,” he informs.
