A source had told us, “Jameel has filed a complaint against producer Mathiyalagan, assistant director Vijay and editor John Abraham for indulging in post-production activities without his knowledge.”
Later, the producer’s side responded by stating that the film was completed in the month of February 2021 and is ready for release. A statement released by them read, “Since a case has been filed by the director against the producer, we would like to clear the case and have decided to wait for the decision of the Hon’ble Madras High Court. We also expect that, in meantime, the present restrictions, due to the pandemic, would be eased making it more appropriate for the release of our movie Maha.”
Now, the makers have released a video from a press meet held to celebrate the completion of the film’s shoot, in which the director says that the film is complete. “Find here with the video of the Director U R Jameel of the film “Maha” staring STR and Hansika Motwani , produced by Etcetera Entertainment Mr.Mathiyalagan in association with Dato Abdul Malik, Mohamed Zubair and Razik Ahamed of Malik Streams Corporations (Production & Distribution).
In this video interview that was shot in 2020 the director says that the film is complete and now he is on the media saying that the movie is not ready. We are submitting this video link of his contradicting statements to the media’s kind attention,” a statement from the film’s PR read.
In the video, Jameel is seen as saying, “Maha is complete. It’s almost been three years. I should first thank Hansika ma’am, who kick-started this project and stayed with it for three years. And Mathi sir.. There were many ups and downs, and a few minor issues used to crop up. But he gave his full support and was keen on completing this project.”
Describing Jameel as the captain of the ship, producer Mathiyalagan is seen saying, “Sometimes, ships sway, but he ensured that he brought it to its destination at the right time. The film has come out superbly. Thanks to Jameel.”
Interestingly, Jameel’s side has been countering this by saying that the event was held so that the producer could begin business talks with the film trade over selling the various rights of the film, and that the team had shot for two days even after the event!
