With this, the film is only a few crores short of surpassing the lifetime collection of Janhvi Kapoor‘s horror-comedy ‘Roohi’ that was released early this year, before theatres were shut down again due to the second wave of covid-19.
‘Bell Bottom’ saw a drop in collections, which was expected as the film began its downward slope on Tuesday. It also faced competition from the new release ‘Chehre‘ that starred Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles.
The Akshay starrer however, managed to maintain its hold in Gujarat and Saurashtra where it has been pretty steady. The rest of the country, however, saw a drop in the 75% range.
Despite the low numbers and theatres currently running at 50% capacity, reports indicate that the weekend will see a growth in numbers. However, it remains to be seen just how much the collections increase.
Directed by Ranjit Tewari, Akshay Kumar essays the lead role in this spy thriller. ‘Bell Bottom’ that also features Lara Dutta, Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles, was the first Bollywood film to be shot completely during the lockdown. The film was previously scheduled for a release in April but was postponed owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
