‘We did not learn anything new about each other during lockdown’
While many couples share that they learnt new things about their partners amid the pandemic, Gurmeet and Debina aren’t among them, as they had each other figured out long before the pandemic. “Mujhe toh lagta hai humein sab pata hai ek dusre ke baare mein. Aise lockdown jaisa feel humare saath pehle bhi hua hai. Hum jab naye naye the, tab kaam nahi hota tha toh ghar pe baithe rehte the. Tab hi humne discover kar liya tha,” shares Gurmeet.Debina adds, “Before Ramayan, we had no work for three years. Paise bhi nahi hote the, ghar mein hi khaana banate the, jo sab logon ne lockdown mein kiya, humne woh sab tab hi kar liya.”
I give everything to the project I agree to do: Gurmeet
Gurmeet, who became a household name with TV shows like Ramayan, Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi and many others, has now also ventured into films, web projects and music videos. The actor adds that he focusses on giving his best to all his projects rather than the medium. He says, “I love movies. Mera humesha se sapna tha ki film actor banna hai. This was always the dream and now that dream is happening. TV kiya, TV se filmon mein aa gaya. Gaane itne hit rahe. I am enjoying this process and whatever I do, I give my 100% to it. Agar mujhe koi kaam pasand na ho toh main usko karta he nahi hoon, aur agar maine chote kaam ko bhi haan bol diya toh mujhe lagta hai isse bada kaam mujhe duniya mein nahi mila.”
I interact with more people and that’s how I am able to learn: Debina
Debina, who has also been focussing on her career as an influencer, shares that people think it is easy because she is a popular face, but that’s not the case. “While being popular means you have an existing fan following, but uske baad ki journey aap ki apni hoti hai. The initial 10,000 followers may come easy but the journey after that is all yours. The effort that I put, my consistency, and hard work have helped. I interact with more people and that’s how I am able to learn,” she says.
‘We will never forget the second wave ’
While Gurmeet tried to help people on ground in the second wave with his team, Debina ensured that she was there for her family members during this time. “In the first wave, we all were thinking about keeping ourselves occupied, but the second wave was more about humankind than keeping oneself busy. It was more about helping everyone. We realised the importance of society. It was more about taking care of each other mentally,” says Debina.
Gurmeet adds, “ I think we were able to survive the second wave because people helped each other. I don’t think I will be able to forget the second wave ever.”
