“Rajesh and I became friends first and I got to see the movie buff in him. Not many know this, but he catches every new release in the theatre on the Friday it releases. Then, I came to know that he is related to G Ramanathan, and he has composed for Balachander sir’s serials. He also played a couple of his independent music projects to me. That is when I felt his music would suit the film I’m making. And when I finally asked him to be part of the film, he agreed,” says Arun.
Talking about what made him say yes to the project, Rajesh says, “I’ve been waiting for a good launch in films. Since Arun is a close friend, he narrated the story of his film. I loved the story and wished him well for the project. That’s when he asked me if I would do the music for the film. This is a film that I felt has scope for songs and rerecording. So, I, too, immediately accepted his offer.”
The musician says that since the story has diverse emotions, one can expect music that is equally diverse. “It is a film that is about spreading love. We have almost finished composing three songs,” he informs.
Rajesh feels that he has a lot more responsibility as a composer now. “Since Arun has placed his trust in me, that adds responsibility on my shoulders. By God’s grace, people know who Rajesh Vaidhya is, and given that this is my launch, they will have some expectations, which I will have to fulfill,” he explains.
He admits that there is quite a difference between making independent music and composing for a film. “When making independent music, it is OK if I like the music, and I can put it out hoping that listeners, too, would love it. But with films, so many people are involved, and the music has to satisfy them first. So, it is a different experience for me,” he says.
