According to a report on TOI, all the celebrities were summoned to appear before the investigating agency from September 2 to 22. Rakul Preet Singh has been summoned on September 6, Rana Daggubati on September 8, Ravi Teja on September 9 and Mumaith Khan has been asked to appear before the agency on November 15. This is a four-year-old case and due to lack of evidence, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the excise department didn’t proceed against the actors and no charge sheet was also filed against them. Also when the celebrities were questioned by the SIT, they had denied the role.
Revealing details about the case, an ED official told TOI, “Around 12 cases were booked by Telangana Excise and Prohibition department and 11 charge sheets were filled. Mostly drug traffickers around eight persons were charge sheeted in the cases then. Most of them are lower-level drug traffickers. We have called excise officials as witnesses. Likewise, till we get evidence Tollywood celebrities will be considered as witnesses. Their names have figured in the investigation.”
