The acclaimed director shared that the making of ‘Kayattam’ was mentally effortless, but highly challenging experience physically as the entire movie was filmed in the Himalayas. The team had to trek and the weather conditions weren’t stable.
“Making of #Kayattam was mentally effortless but it was an enormously challenging experience physically. We had to trek to the unpredictable peaks of Himalaya in the unexpected rain and heavy snowfall, which can be dangerous at times. We shot rain, rainbows and snowfall at a stretch. Not even at the verge of the life threatening danger and fear we ever thought to run away. After the heavy snowfall we decided to trek down. Earlier we had a plan to shoot the blue lake near Shia goru and our cameraman @chandruselvaraj was so excited about that. He was the most disappointed one when we packed up. But it was impossible to shoot then, because the blue lake was filled with white snow at least two feet thick. Now when I look back at it, everything seems to me like a fairy tale. ‘Kayattam’ was also backed by Manju Warrier. The film also marks the actress’ first association with Sanal Kumar Sasidharan. The movie was shot back in 2019 and the entire cast and crew were even stranded in the Himachal Pradesh floods and then rescued later.
