In the alleged interview, the filmmaker, who had made stylish films like Big B, Anwar, Iyobinte Pusthakam and Varathan, was supposed to have said that he was going to try his hand in Tamil films next and that his friend Ratnavel, with whom he had studied, was writing an awesome story. It further added that Amal had pitched the awesome story to Kamal and Suriya, who would be playing the lead roles, and the two top actors had said double OK to his offer.
Even as a few Suriya fans started sharing this on their handles, expressing their wish that the project comes true, many movie buffs came forward to point out that the entire thing was nothing but fake! They pointed out that Amal has already announced a couple of projects in Malayalam — Bheeshma Parvam and Bilal — both of which starring Mega Star Mammoootty in the lead role, and slated to release in 2021 and 2023. In fact Bilal, which is supposed to be a sequel to his directorial debut, Big B, has actually been put on the backburner because of the pandemic and the uncertainty surrounding it.
“The pandemic has been a time of uncertainty. So, nothing about my future projects have been finalised yet. I also don’t want to put anybody’s lives at risk considering the situations of the Covid-19 pandemic,” Amal Neerad had told ETimes, in December 2020.
Looks like this ‘news’ of Kamal and Suriya coming together is actually the handiwork of some overly imaginative fan, and is nothing but a rumour.
