The story starts from a household and what happens in a family and moves to a police station. And with the investigative drama being set over a couple of days, there wasn’t scope for a female lead, says Sinu, of the largely male cast. The shoot is scheduled to start today in Kollenkode and Nenmara, to take advantage of Palakkad district’s hilly and forested terrains, and seclusion considering the pandemic situation.
With the tagline of the film, ‘The one in the corner’, Theru refers to the rook on a chessboard. “It is a powerful piece that can easily take down even the king. The film shows the positive and negative sides of a police case, and touches on the personal lives of the investigators,” says the director.
Speaking about teaming up with lead actor Amith again after Djibouti, Sinu explains, “He is a very promising young actor and I want to explore his talent to the full. He can hold his own against established actors.” Baburaj too, is enjoying a good run after his recent OTT film, and Sinu says that he wishes to use this transformation of the actor — who is playing a cop, along with Shajon, in the film — and take it further.
Sinu’s debut, which was shot in Djibouti during the early months of the pandemic, is yet to release and he says that it is a theatrical film through and through, so they are holding on for a couple more months to release on the big screen, even though there is much OTT interest. Theru script is by Dinil PK, TD Sreenivas is DOP and music is by Yakzan and Neha.
